Partner William Franklin will be in attendance at the ESOP Centre’s annual global employee equity forum on 17 February 2016 held at the offices of White & Case LLP in London.
It is the ideal opportunity for UK companies and advisers to get the latest developments and advice in employee share plans. William will be one of the experts speaking at the event. He will be presenting a talk entitled ‘The costs and benefits of share schemes and other equity based incentives’.
For more than decade, serious reform of share-based payment accounting has been a largely untouchable subject for the accounting standard setters. However, as a post implementation review of International Financial Reporting Standard 2 (IFRS2) is now being discussed, plus changes to the US version, is the ice starting to move? As a specialist in the valuation of share schemes, William will be exploring the changes that might be considered and whether they are possible or even desirable.
Using an example of the Share Incentive Plan (SIP) in action, he will show that it is a mistake to consider accounting costs in isolation from the wider purposes and benefits of share schemes. He encourages all practitioners to get involved in the debate.
